Oaklight LLC is a fast-growing, science-driven environmental consulting firm. We’re looking for a motivated Environmental Specialist to join our Texas team—preferably based in the Austin area. The ideal candidate will have 3–8 years of experience and be passionate about fieldwork, regulatory compliance, and public engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct field investigations, including:
Habitat assessments
Wetland and waterbody delineations per U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
guidance.
Threatened and endangered species surveys (as applicable).
Prepare technical reports:
Habitat assessments and consultation documents.
Waters of the U.S. delineation reports and permit packages.
National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents.
Support NEPA compliance.
Assist with permitting and coordination at federal, state, and local levels
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
Provide support at public meetings and stakeholder engagement.
Participate in creating Oaklight’s safety and quality culture.
Required Qualifications
3–8 years of experience in environmental consulting, natural resources, or regulatory compliance.
Working knowledge of:
Clean Water Act (Section 404/401)
NEPA
Endangered Species Act
Relevant Texas regulatory frameworks (Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality, etc.)
Strong field skills (GPS, vegetation ID, wetland delineation).
Willingness to travel for field work throughout Central Texas.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
Strong technical writing skills.
Wetland delineation training (e.g., 40-hour wetland delineation course)
Experience with:
USACE jurisdictional determination packages.
ESA Section 7 consultation processes.
Stakeholder engagement.
Microsoft Office Suite.
GIS and GPS tools.
Work Environment
Full-time or part-time positions available.
Daily work schedule may vary depending on project needs.
Remote and in-office work arrangements are available
Fieldwork across Texas and neighboring states.
Outdoor work in varied terrain and extreme weather.
Work may involve:
Hiking with gear.
Manual excavation.
Wildlife and insect exposure.
Remote locations with limited amenities.
Unique wildlife and plant sightings!
Schedule
Must be available for multi-day field assignments.
Occasional extended field days (8–10+ hours).
Flexibility for overnight travel.
